The Mosaic Code Process: From First Call to Live System in 8 Weeks

5 min readPublished 2026-07-16By The Mosaic Code

How We Work

Most software projects fail because of poor communication, unclear scope, and long development cycles that lose alignment. We designed our process to prevent all three. If you are wondering what to expect, read about [building custom software in Mauritius](/blog/building-custom-software-mauritius-what-to-expect).

Week 1: The Conversation

It starts with a WhatsApp message or a call. We talk about your business, the problem you are trying to solve, and what success looks like. No technical jargon. No sales pitch. Just a conversation about your work.

By the end of week one, we understand your business process well enough to propose a solution. Not a vague proposal. A specific description of what we would build and why. Learn about [how to brief a software developer](/blog/how-to-brief-software-developer-mauritius).

Week 2: Scope and Design

We map your workflow in detail. What happens first, what happens next, what connects to what. We identify the critical path: the minimum set of features that solves your biggest problem.

You see exactly what we plan to build before we write a single line of code. If something does not match how you work, we fix it now. Not after development.

Weeks 3 to 6: Build

We build in sprints. Every two weeks, you see working software. Not mockups. Not wireframes. Working features you can click through and test with real data.

This is where most projects lose alignment. We prevent it by showing you progress constantly. If something does not match your expectations, we catch it early. Small course corrections are cheap. Big ones at the end are expensive.

Week 7: Integration and Testing

We connect the system to your existing tools: accounting, payment processing, email, WhatsApp. We test every workflow with real scenarios. We fix what breaks.

You test the system yourself with your team. We watch, listen, and adjust. Read about [ecommerce compliance](/blog/ecommerce-compliance-mauritius) and [payment integration](/blog/ecommerce-payment-integration-mauritius).

Week 8: Launch and Handover

The system goes live. Your team trains on the actual system, not a separate training environment. We stay close for the first two weeks, fixing issues and answering questions.

After that, the system is yours. We remain available for updates and improvements, but the day-to-day operation is yours.

What Makes This Different

Most agencies start with a big requirements document that takes weeks to produce. We start with a conversation.

Most agencies disappear during development and resurface at launch. We show progress every two weeks.

Most agencies hand over code and leave. We stay close through launch and beyond.

The result is a system that actually matches how you work, built in a timeline that respects your business reality.
